MLK ART DONATION

The Oscar Thomas Foundation (OTF) donated artwork of the late Oscar Thomas to the National Civil Rights Museum on the Dr. King holiday. The gift to the historical Memphis, Tennessee landmark includes the painting Voice of Change, left and Keepers of the Dream, right.

HAITI: LEST WE FORGET

OTF visited Haiti and is deeply concerned about their post earthquake future. We partner with trusted organizations, dedicated to supporting rebuilding, feeding, and educational efforts.

REMEMBERING PURVIS

OTF mourns the loss of artist Purvis Young (Feb. 4, 1943 - April 20, 2010). A close friend of the Foundation, may his memory and art live forever.

PARTNERS IN ART

OTF attended the 5th Annual Comedy Night to support Young At Art Children’s Museum and it’s at-risk youth programs. The event was exclusive, artful and united individuals who support and believe in the power of art.

BRANDENBERGER DONATION

The painter of “curved space,” Mick Brandenberger recently made a surprise art donation to the foundation. “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” is an original work, created specifically for the 2009 MLK Dream Exhibit. This masterpiece has become part of OTF’s MLK collection. It will be included in exhibitions and eventually donated to an appropriate museum home. We thank Mick and his company, Brandenberger Fine Art for this generous donation.

SUMMER CAMP

In an 8 week summer camp, the OTF used art to empower 60 youth. This program helped participants show improvement in academic retention, reading behaviors, test taking skills, study habits, motivation, and attitudes toward school.
